     Used
Jukebox
Looking to get a hold of a used
jukebox? These days jukeboxes aren’t really sold in
the traditional large upright, CD changing variety, if
they’re sold, it’s usually as a novelty and they are small
tabletop replicas of the larger units from the 60’s, 70’s
and 80’s. If you really want one of the old-school
ones, you’re going to have to look into buying a used
jukebox. A used jukebox may not be as glamorous as a
brand spanking new one, but in this day and age, it’s all
you can hope for.
So where should you go to find yourself a
used jukebox? Well, you don’t have many options open
to you, this is pretty much it:
1. 8 Track
Shack
8
Track Shack is a website on which you can purchase a lot of
vintage material. You can pick up cassette tapes,
vinyl records, Edison diamond disc records, wax cylinder
records and of course you can also find a used jukebox over
here.
Right now there is the “Rowe R-86 Jukebox
- 100 Early 1990's” and “Rock-Ola 448 Jukebox”
available. These 2 jukeboxes right now are being sold
for around $300 here. The thing is that these are
being sold for parts or repair purposes as the condition of
the device is in question, so if you do pick any of these
up, chances are they’re not going to work right out of the
box.
2.
eCrater
Another online site to check out is
eCrater(dot com), this site right now has a “SEEBURG SCD-1
LASER MUSIC JUKEBOX” which holds 60 CD’s. This
is one of the best sounding jukeboxes that Seeburg produced
and it is being sold for $495. If you’re lucky, you
might be able to find this or other jukeboxes here if you go
and check it out.
3. EBay
If all else fails though, turn to
EBay. While online sites like the above are definitely
an option, when it comes to buying used goods, nothing beats
EBay. I can guarantee that if you go there right now
you will find several used jukeboxes on auction that you can
start bidding on right now.
Just be careful when purchasing on EBay as
you’re not dealing with EBay, they are the site which allows
you to just trade with “Joe Schmo”. Make sure that the
person you’re buying from has a good track record and you
should be OK though.
So if you’re looking for a used jukebox,
keep these sites in mind, this is pretty much your best
chance of getting a hold of some old music
memorabilia.
